Blazing Saddles Ladies Riding Club

Welcome to Trent Park and thank you for giving us the opportunity to introduce you to the wonderful world of horse riding.

Now that we are an up and running club we would appreciate it if you could read through the following basic safety rules which must be followed when you are on the yard and around the horses as they are in place for your safety.

Safety Rules

*Please refrain from smoking on the Yard.

*Please do not wear any jewellery around or when riding on your horse.

*Please do not have any loose flapping clothing, tuck clothing in and zip up jackets.

*Please listen to the staff and follow their instructions, they are all experienced in dealing with the horses and want to keep you safe.

*In the event of a fire, please alert a member of staff and proceed to the fire assembly points which are located in the car park and by the cross country field.

*Do not run, shout or scream on the yard.

*Do not shout or scream around a horse or when you are on a horse.

*Do not stand behind a horse or approach it from behind, they cannot see you and could kick out.

*Wash your hands after handling horses and before you eat.

*When approaching a horse in its stable, approach slowly, do not bounce up and scare it.

*Do not enter a horse's stable unless you are being supervised by a staff member or have been asked to do so by a member of staff.

*If you want to feed a horse or pony a titbit, place it on the palm of the hand with fingers flat.

*Carrots in long slices (not rings), polos or apples can be fed. Please ask advice from a staff member which horse or pony would be suitable to feed as some of our horses and ponies can forget their manners when expecting a titbit and could be a bit nippy. Please refrain from teasing the horses and ponies with food as they have surprisingly long necks.

*Signs on doors must be followed for example "Do not Touch or Feed this horse".

These are our basic safety rules, as you get used to coming you will learn more about being around horses and their care and get used to the yard and the way we work.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION
